Dressing up after midnight

As soon as I saw today’s post by PPusa I understood that I need to make a post as well.

20121209-G15-0833It was after midnight between Saturday and Sunday eight days ago. I was walking through the isolated, windy, snowy market square in Helsinki, when I saw something I did not expect: a group of young adults wearing their best, and gathering near the statue of Havis Amanda. One of the ladies stepped into a manlift and she placed a wreath on the shoulders of the statue.

I asked who they were (“Members of Havis Amanda Junior Chamber) and I can take a couple of photos (“Yes!”). I had no ideas if I would have any use for those shots.

Now I know and I can answer: Chamber President Lotta Soini had the honor to give the warming wreath in the chilly night to the title statue of the Chamber.
