Yesterday, 12 April, Herbie Hancock celebrated his 73th anniversary. (Read, listen and see more about Hancock e.g. here.)
Happy (belated) birthday, Herbie!
In 16th July 1976 Herbie Hancock, together with a guitarist Wah Wah Watson, had a gig in Kirjurinluoto, Pori Jazz Festival. They were the key members of The Headhunters, one of the best jazz-funk bands ever.
In drums was James Levi, who started his recording career with Herbie Hancock the same year 1976.
Wah Wah Watson (Melvin Ragin) made also some recordins with Herbie Hancock. One well known LP is Secrets.
In bass was Paul Jackson, who worked almost the whole 1970’s with Herbie Hancock.
The saxophonist was Bennie Maupin, who also has had a long cooperation with Hancock.
