Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden

If you have got a moment of free time in Helsinki, you may like to spend it in a serene place. Visit then Helsinki University’s Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden in the very center of the city. – I’m not a botanist or gardener, but I liked a lot my walk there last week during early evening.

When I took this picture, the sun was already close the horizon, making the colors of the plants more vibrant. I further increased the vividness of the scene by balancing the shadows and the bright sky by using HDR technique.

What a delightful enhancement – the slight exagggeration of colour and tone adds a hint of menace that would make it a perfect illustration for a children’s story about strange goings on in the beautiful Palm House. I see they welcome cyclists. Great sky. The more I see of Helsinki in your photographs, the more I regret never having visited.
