Let’s celebrate the World Animal Day with Martins

The beautiful Brown-throated Martins do not know anything about the World Animal Day we celebrate today, October 4th.

WAD was started already 1931, originally on the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment. Today there is no link to any nationality, religion, faith or political ideology.

These two birds enjoyed their free life near De Hoop camping site in  Ai-Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park, South Africa in September 2008. It was lovely to follow their acrobatic fly in the grass near Orange River.
