Happy National Day, Czech Republic!

With this picture of Prague Castle, claimed to be the largest ancient castle in the world, I concratulate Czech Republic  for getting independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire on October 18th, 1918. At that time Czech and Slovakia were united until they peacefully separated on January 1st, 1993. Officially October 18th is still celebrated as the National Day.

Prague Castle is splendidly lit during the night. I took this picture near Charles Bridge, a very popular spot for photographers, so there must be hundreds of similar pictures.  A slight difference might be that this a a three picture HDR image.

As a side note, if you click the picture to see it enlarged, you can probably spot a small white pixel on the top left. That is planet Venus, which was nicely visible on the sky on June 4th, 2010 at 10 pm.

Great shot! I was there recently and will soon be posting a few similar HDR shots. Unfortunately, the weather was not as cooperative with me as it was for you.
