Sometimes the popularity of a picture surprises me. I posted this picture in 500px.com, a photo sharing site which I use randomly. The picture shows a garden flower in strongly modified colors.
500px measures the popularity of a photo by using an algorithm called “Pulse”, which can be something between 0 and 100. The pulse of this blue flower is now well over 90. The top shots are very close to 100. To be noted that the pulse “is not necessarily a measure of photograph’s quality“.
So there must be something in this photo which grasps the attention of the viewer. What is that?
