My first days in the big world (Barnacle Goose)

I like to hide here! 20110602-7D-3348These early days of June are the best to follow Barnacle Goose (Branta leucopsis) chicks in the parks, shores and islands of southern Finland – there are plenty of those! The birds are quite used to people, but might get angry if you get too close to them. These geese were living on the island of Korkeasaari in June 2013. Though Helsinki Zoo is located on that island, these birds were wild, going around the zoo like the other visitors.
