Berlin Photo Diary 2014 – Street Organist

This charming gentleman was playing a barrel organ (31 note type T31, made by Orgelbau Stüber, price about 12,000 €) in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. (The street organ culture is strong in Germany, there is even a club for street organ enthusiasts.)

During this sunny early July day, both the organ and the attire of the player were worth to admire, not to forget the music and the player.

Someone should tell the woman in black that miniskirts are no longer fashionable. The organ grinder doesn’t look the type to have that job. I suspect he does it for fun, not the money… Goodness it is an expensive item, I wonder how much giant organs like the ones they had in Amsterdam would cost.
