Brilliant contrast between the sterility of bricks and plaster, and the natural beauty of wood. I realise sunlight has a lot to do with this effect, but it demonstrates that whereas age, wear and tear or even slight damage improves the appearance of wood, Plasterwork needs constant maintenance to prevent it looking neglected. A very fine photograph, thanks.

Please don’t tell me that it isn’t wood…it’s also plaster.🙂

    • Sorry to disappoint you – but you are right also.😀 Part of the arcade was under renovation with wooden support on the street side, creating beautifully brown tint for the penetrating sunlight. All the columns are brick and plaster.
