The city of Hvar is the largest settlement (pop. c. 3700) on the island of Hvar in Croatia, but the bustling port with small boats and big cruise ships makes it feel even larger. During our short stay there it felt very relaxed and easy-going place.
Hvar is a well-known tourist destination in Croatia, but not pushy and not over-crowded, at least not during late June, though during the high season July-August there is 20.000 visitors a day. Be prepared to pay relatively high prices especially if you like to eat or stay near the port.
