If you like to see how great Estonian ceramics is made, you should visit Asuur Ceramics Studio and showroom at Loewenschede Tower (more about the history of the tower here) in the Old Town of Tallinn. The studio was founded already 1993. The team of three artists has expanded into group of seven members today.
I visited their showroom spring this year and was lucky to see the founding member Kärt Seppel in work, together with Lauri Kilusk who joined the group 2002, and intern Kirke Hellemaa. They were happy to tell more about their works and processes.
In these pictures are only a tiny sample of their exquisite but practical and serious but also playful works. I highly recommend visiting the gallery and workshop, but be warned: you will very likely have more to carry when you get out.
