Janne Mäkelä is a folk musician and a popular music researcher. He was also the director of the The Finnish Jazz & Pop Archive JAPA during 2008-2015.

    The top photo in which all ‘the world’ is in black shadow while he ‘floats in a warm nimbus is very evocative of something…I’m not sure what, as if he’s attempting to entertain an audience of dead people who refuse to come to life. The bored expression of the nearest man is probably ecstasy, but it’s hard to tell. A very interesting and, to me, amusing photograph.
